A new website can be a lot to think about, especially if you have had your current website for a few years.

Deciding what to keep, what can be removed and creating new content can be overwhelming, but with the right preparation it doesn’t have to be.

1. Brand Assets

Gather all your brand essentials in one place:

  • Logo files
  • Brand colours (hex codes or brand guide)
  • Fonts or font preferences
  • Any existing design elements you want to use (patterns, icons, illustrations)

Without these decisions made ahead of time you will waste precious time choosing colours and styles that should already be settled.

2. Website Copy

Your words are just as important as your design.

Make sure you have:

  • Homepage copy (headline subhead sections for services testimonials etc)
  • About page text
  • Services or offers descriptions
  • Contact page information (location contact form details social links)

If writing from scratch feels overwhelming, don’t worry, when you book your website build you get a Prep Pack to help you put together your content, but you can start by prepare simple outlines or bullet points. Clear copy even if short is better than waiting on perfection.

3. Images and Photography

Strong visuals make a huge difference to your website’s professionalism.
Prepare:

  • Brand photography or professional headshots
  • Images that represent your services (stock photos are fine if chosen carefully)
  • Any other visuals that bring your brand story to life

Avoid relying on generic free stock that feels disconnected from your brand.

4. Clarity on Your Services and Ideal Clients

You must be able to clearly explain:

  • What you offer
  • Who you help
  • Why someone should choose you

A website cannot do its job if your offers are vague or your audience is a moving target.

This does not mean everything must be perfect.

It does mean having a strong starting point.

5. Clear Goals for the Website

What do you want your website to do?

  • Book more consultations?
  • Sell services?
  • Build authority?
  • Grow your email list?

Knowing the goal affects the design layout calls to action and user journey.

Without it you risk building something that looks good but does not deliver results.

6. Tech and Platform Decisions

Before the day you should know:

  • Your domain name and where it is registered
  • Your hosting provider (or be ready to set one up)
  • Any must-have integrations (email marketing tools, booking systems, CRMs)

This ensures there are no last-minute tech hurdles that waste build time.

7. An audit of your current website

Take a good look at each page and decide whether you need to keep it or not. Sometimes content can be duplicated in one way or another, or you can have lots of old blog posts that aren’t relevant any more.

A new website thrives on collaboration and trust, so I can go through this with you, or even for you.

When you bring the right ingredients to the table your new website build becomes a powerful launchpad, not a stressful scramble.
